It's Summer Now!
Lucy's been counting to down the last day of school with us all, but I'm not really sure she understands what this means. Until this morning. I was driving her to daycare, we pulled in, and we were getting out of the van I told her "Lucy, you know this is the last day of school, let's get inside and see you friends and teachers." She got this huge smile on her face, gasped, and said "Oh mommy it's the last day! It's Summer Now!" I asked her if she knows what summer means...her response? "It means that we have no school, we can swim in our new little pool, and we can go camping!" Ok, so I think she gets it! :) She will be going to a new daycare next year and she told everyone throughout the day as they were cleaning out cubbies that she would need to take this, and that, and that because "I'm going to a new school after the summer, so I have to take everything that says Lucy on it." She's got that right! I guess I should give her more credit. So after a very long 1/2 day of school with my students, with field day events, flooded fields, wet playgrounds, and more grass clippings then I've ever seen indoors, we all finally said our goodbyes. I passed out my report cards, with them good luck and sent them out the door. Someone in the office had the brilliant idea to begin playing some summertime Phineas and Ferb song over the PA system, the kids were chanting, rushing the doors, and practically rising up off of the floors. It was DEFINITELY time to for it to be summer now. And now it is. Tomorrow, no early morning, no rushing off, and now it's time for swimming in the new little pool and going camping. Ahhhh!
